Characters who should be going balls to the wall in this massively important life-or-death situation are often just standing around calmly with mild concern on their faces. (One of many examples: Ron and Hermione open the door to the Chamber of Secrets only to stand there as if they're not sure they should go in. Get in there and grab some basilisk fangs, already!)

David Yates has demonstrated a pattern of neutering HP characters emotionally and rendering them so understated that their personalities dissolve. (Listen to interviews with the man, and you'll hear how consistent this lack of verve is to his own personality.) Where's the anger and emotional heat that are naturally a part of this kind of battle? Are the 'good guys' just not allowed to get angry in David Yates' moral universe, no matter how deeply they're assailed? For example, in the book, Neville was a brave, hardened guerrilla fighter by the final battle, but in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 Dvd Movie, he can't even look Voldemort in the eye as he meekly informs him that he doesn't think it would be good to join the bad guys.

And it's not just anger and urgency that are lacking: there was no sense of personal or collective triumph at the defeat of Voldemort! (Partly, this is because the filmmakers made the stupid decision to have Harry beat Voldemort in private rather than in front of everyone.) Sure, it's an inherently mixed emotional bag, as many loved ones have died during the battle and Voldemort's extended reign of terror, but come on, the whole freaking world has been saved! Most glaringly, why is Ginny just sitting across the room after Harry not only turns out to be alive, but has finished off the baddest bad guy ever? One would expect her, as Harry's love interest, to be supremely happy at these facts.

More neutering: Harry tells Ron and Hermione that he's intentionally going to his death in the Forbidden Forest, and neither Ron nor Harry, supposedly best friends, decide they should maybe hug each other or say goodbye in any fashion whatsoever. (In the book, Harry doesn't tell anyone he's going to his death, so that he won't lose his resolve or have to explain/convince people to let him go. A much more interesting choice, but even if you go with the movie version, at least make it realistic.)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 Dvd Movie

Some key moments were delivered well (e.g., Snape's death), but more often they were way off. As another reviewer noted, the duel between Molly and Bellatrix was completely, totally bungled. Rushed, unemotional, and stiffly acted and filmed.

Some fantasy climaxes are appropriately uplifting and epic, without minimizing whatever losses were incurred along the way. Despite interesting and well-executed moments here and there, the last HP movie was the opposite: boring, draining, unrealistic, and mostly unsatisfying. Most people fell unthinkingly in love this Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 Dvd Movie, but to me, David Yates and friends have ruined perhaps the only opportunity to deliver a soaring cinematic climax to this series.

House MD Season Five Movie

House MD Season Five Movie- House begins its fifth season on a somber note. With his girlfriend, Amber, dead, Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) finds his friendship with the cantankerous Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) to be more strained than ever and temporarily leaves the hospital where they work. He eventually returns, which is a good thing, because Wilson is the closest thing House has to a moral compass. The writers of this drama do an admirable job of inserting elements of well-placed comedy into the often-intense vignettes. Otherwise, House wouldn't be such a likable character. In fact, without the humor, he can often be downright despicable, especially to those he supposedly likes the most. Viewers learn that his lack of bedside manner (in and out of the hospital) probably was passed down from his father (R. Lee Ermey, who makes a brief appearance).

All 24 episodes--which originally aired during the 2008-2009 television season--are included in this five-disc boxed set. A few of the episodes are tainted by a soap opera vibe, particularly the ones concentrating on the romance between Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps) and Dr. Remy ""Thirteen"" Hadley (Olivia Wilde). Based on the first four seasons, Foreman's behavior seems way off. While love can change a man, it doesn't seem likely that Foreman would change this much--not even for someone as compelling as Thirteen. But House's boss, Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), has a juicy story line involving her quest to have a family. The struggles she goes through to adopt a baby depict how challenging it can be for women--even those who excel at everything else--to have it all. But her story line also shows that she is more resilient than she gives herself credit for. For all its medical jargon and scenes set in the operating room, House really is about relationships more than anything else. That's why when another character tragically dies this season, viewers take the loss to heart.

House MD Season Five Movie Details :
-Format: AC-3, Box set, Color, Dolby, DVD, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC
-Language: English
-Subtitles: English, Spanish
-Actors: Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, Jennifer Morrison
-Writers: David Shore
-Studio: Universal Studios
-DVD Release Date: August 25, 2009
-Run Time: 1060 minutes

What Costumers Said about House MD Season Five Movie?
BAD BOYS
With emphasis on the MEH. It was a good season, good patients, House is always stellar, but the new crew leaves me wanting, and what they made for surprise twists could almost be seen as cliche. I did enjoy watching the episodes, but I fear that this season will not have the same re-watchability as the previous seasons. If you are a BIG House fan like me than this purchase will make sense to round out your collection, and maybe the casual House watcher won't know a good episode from a bad one, but for them this purchase is probably not that important and the money could be better spent elsewhere. I don't feel let down, I just almost feel as though the writers are struggling or have just run out of ideas. I hope next season will get back to it's roots a little, and bring back the show that I fell for. Here's to hope.

LISA
This is really a four-and-a-half star review. Can't quite give the season as a whole a five because, despite some of the best episodes every written (Birthmarks, Simple Explanation and the trio of shows that ended the year), there are still some very weak ones (Lucky Thirteen, Here Kitty especially come to mind). And, as marvelous as the writers are, the way that this show works, with the writers developing their own stories, leads to problems. It seems that almost all of their story arcs end up being way too long and meandering. Believe me, I'm a devoted 'Huddy', but that storyline took up way too much room this season and took way too long to pay off. Additionally, please don't let them ever consider another spin-off. The P.I. was mildly diverting, but did not deserve the screen time he ended up receiving. However, coming off the unmitigated disaster that was Season 4, this was an amazing season. I still want to find a way to integrate Cameron and Chase back into the team, and still haven't warmed up to either 13 or Taub. But this season as a whole remains one of the best conceived and executed of the whole series. I suspect it was partly due to the fact that they began filming immediately after completing Season 4, and probably also due to Kal Penn's departure. The unexpected shakeup gave them the inspiration for for a storyline that makes House's eventual breakdown, building on the fall-out from Amber's death, absolutely believable and heart-breaking. Whether Season Six will be worthy remains to be seen (hopefully will be better than the amazing-ketamine-cure-that-lasted-only-two-episodes of season 3). But Hugh Laurie's Gregory House remains the driving soul, heart and intellect of an amazing show.

MARIO
I have been watching the series for 6 months on USA channel. Although, as a physician, I know that the presentation is totally ficticious from a real medical standpoint, this series is very entertaining. It is impossible for someone to destroy their liver in two hours, and to need (and receive) a heart transplant within one day. It is impossible for a physician to treat a patient with whole body radiation without knowing a real diagnosis. However, this series presents medical syndromes, and other very rare disease possibilities, causing even the most astute phyisician to do a double take as to what is involved with the syndrome they present. This is a seriously sensationalistic medical presentation, but still very entertaining...even to the most discerning of physicians. Please do not take the sense of urgency seriously. However, understand that this is a good emotional representation of what physicians go through in trying to make a serious diagnosis, and a diagnosis in difficult diseases can be extremely difficult. It is obvious that "House" is a modern day version of Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes", but "Sherlock Holmes" was patterned after Dr. Joseph Bell, a famous physician in Europe in the time of Doyle.

"Dr. Bell observed the way a person moved. The walk of a sailor varied vastly from that of a solider. If he identified a person as a sailor he would look for any tattoos that might assist him in knowing where their travels had taken them. He trained himself to listen for small differences in his patient's accents to help him identify where they were from. Bell studied the hands of his patients because calluses or other marks could help him determine their occupation." The Chronicles of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

So, "House" takes this full circle. Very entertaining and worth the time, just to refresh rare syndromes and their symptons and the character interactions are also fun.

House MD Season one Movie

House MD Season one Movie-He pops pills, watches soaps, and always, always says what's on his mind. He is Dr. Gregory House (Emmy nominee Hugh Laurie, Blackadder). Producers David Shore, Bryan Singer, Katie Jacobs, and Paul Attanasio haven't rewritten the hospital drama--at heart, it's a cross between St. Elsewhere, ER, and C.S.I.--but they've infused a moribund genre with new life and created one of TV's most compelling characters. More than any previous medical procedural, it resembles Attanasio’s underrated Gideon's Crossing, but House is lighter on its feet. As fascinating as he is, the show wouldn't work as well if it were all House all the time (that would be like Sherlock Holmes without Watson or Moriarty). Fortunately, he's joined by an intriguing cast of characters, portrayed by a combination of experienced vets (Omar Epps, Lisa Edelstein, Tony winner Robert Sean Leonard) and new faces (Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer). Aside from the complicated cases they tackle each week, the sparks really fly when House's brilliant, if naïve charges are put to the test-and as the head of a teaching hospital, it's his job to test them (although his tough love approach is constantly landing him in hot water with Edelstein's administrator). From the first episode, House attracted a talented array of guests, including Robin Tunney ("Pilot"), Joe Morton ("Role Model"), and Patrick Bauchau ("Cursed") as Spencer’s father. In addition, Chi McBride and Sela Ward appear frequently (with Ward returning for the second season). Viewers who first watched these 22 episodes on Fox will be gratified to note that the music has survived the transition to disc, such as the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," as featured in both the pilot and season finale ("Honeymoon"). The only apparent omission is the credit theme (Massive Attack's "Teardrop") from the pilot.

House MD Season one Movie Details:
-Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1
-Number of discs: 3
-Studio: Fox Network
-DVD Release Date: August 30, 2005
-Run Time: 972 minutes
-Actors: Hugh Laurie
-Format: AC-3, Box set, Closed-captioned, Color, Dolby, DVD, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC
-Language: English (Dolby Digital 5.1)
-Subtitles: Spanish

What Costumer said about House MD Season one Movie?
REINALDI
Much as The Shield did for cop shows a few years ago, House has managed to breathe some new life into a tried-and-true TV format, in this case the medical drama. Granted, it's not even entirely accurate to call House a medical drama, as it largely subverts the form's conventions by mixing them with ample doses of mystery and comedy, not to mention a sardonic, pill-popping doctor who rarely sees his patients and doesn't even seem to care about them much of the time. Whatever the case, though, House is easily one of the best shows to hit TV in the past five years, and a reason to keep watching in spite of the reality glut. Sure, it doesn't boast the peity or ER or the sensationalism of Nip/Tuck, but in their place is reams of wit, insight, and plaintive musings on life and death.

Dr. House is obviously in the lead (hence the title, duh), and Hugh Laurie's performance easily puts House right up there with Vic Mackey, Jack Bauer, and Eric Cartman in my personal pantheon of most memorable TV characters. House mostly works as a character because you can't really put a label on him--he's not quite a hero, but he's not quite an anti-hero either, and he's never just a stick figure. He's actually my favorite type of character--complex, deeply flawed, and undeniably human. Beneath all his sarcasm, skepticism, and cynicism is a genuine understanding of human nature and a commitment to doing the right thing even if it takes lying, deceit, and bullying to do it. Yes, he's a little over the top, but it wouldn't be much of a show if he weren't, now would it?

Of course, it also greatly helps its cause that this show is frequently and hysterically funny. It's a sort of humor you don't see all that often on TV, too, except in shows created by Joss Whedon. There's no slapstick, surrealism, or Arrested Development-style goofiness, just a steady stream of snappy one-liners from House mocking the pretense and shallow thinking that he so clearly hates. Admittedly, House gets pretty much all of the best lines, with the rest mostly divided between his friend Dr. Wilson and his boss Dr. Cuddy, but it hardly matters when there are at least five laugh-out loud moments per episode. It's sort of sad that a so-called drama is easily one of the funniest shows on TV right now, but that's just a sign of how well House manages to cross genre boundaries.

As some have pointed out, most of the episodes are pretty much the same--patient comes in with an unidentified ailment, House and his team go through several alternative diagnoses, patient takes several turns for the worse, House comes up with a brilliantly offbeat, MacGyver-esque solution--but that's not really the point. It's really the ongoing threads that elevate House from merely interesting to consistently compelling--House's complicated professional relationship with his underlings, whom he alternately pushes, browbeats, disparages, and very occasionally praises; the ambiguous feelings between House and the smoking-hot Dr. Cameron; his head-butting confrontations with Dr. Cuddy; and the comic relief of House's constant efforts to get out of free-clinic duty. This season also gets noticably better when the show brings in the gargantuan Chi McBride for a five episode arc as billionaire venture capitalist Edward Vogler, who buys his way onto the board of directors and becomes the perfect foil for House: ruthlessly imperious, bottom line-obsessed, and utterly Machiavellian.

If there's one problem with this season, it comes at the end, when the show introduces House's ex-girlfriend Stacy into the plot, leading to their seemingly (though thankfully not actually)interminable, tacked-on affair in the current second season. Other than that, though, it's one memorable episode after another. And with the exception of the aforementioned tacked-on affair, season two has managed to be just as good (if a bit more sensationalistic). And unlike with Firefly, Arrested Development, Undeclared, and Andy Richter Controls the Universe, the ratings are good enough that Fox pretty much has to stick with it.

VERRY
Just thought I'd tack on another 5-star review for this awesome show. I've been hooked on "House" from the very beginning. I can't get enough of this show. What makes it so good? Probably a combination of what others have already mentioned...the writing, the acting, the medical conditions House must diagnose and treat, etc. I can't think of one single dull episode.

Of course, the best thing about this show is the performance of Hugh Laurie. He blends a perfect balance of sarcasm and compassion to his character. In every episode we see his genuine concern for the well-being of his patients, despite his often caustic and bitter attitude. He's a character facing many inner conflicts, and that's what makes him real. Although many of us don't understand a lot of the medical terminology used, we understand his motivations for doing what he does, even if it means going against the grain of the other doctors' opinions.

All in all a terrific show. I hope it's around for many, many seasons. I'll be the first in line to get this DVD set. Let's hope there's some good bonus material.

GARRY
Get ready to finally see a witty and cleverly funny new show that will keep you running in front of the television every tuesday evening (that is if fox decides to keep it on tuesdays). House, M.D.'s flare makes up for all all the dramas that fox should have and its suspense can sometimes even be 24-worthy (another great must see fox drama). A show based on the "strange cases" department in a hospital, which Doctor Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) leads along with his various "sidekick doctors." With great characters such as House who keeps you silently howling with laughter at his various victims of sarcasm and Doctor Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) who always keeps House in check during his many life saving escapades, House M.D. always has something new to offer every week. Refreshingly cute, clever, and perpetually gorgeous Doctor Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) always has something to add as the only female in House's team along with Doctors Eric Foreman (Omar Epps) and Robert Chase (Jesse Spence) the male members of House's team always getting nabbed at with rude but halarious remarks from House. All in all this show is a fanatastic combination of poor kids almost dying, love stories/non-verbal chemistry, children watching the parents go mad with various diseases, lacross players, poisoned jeans, nuns, and who could forget the sarcasm, and I and many others will eagerly await season two and beyond.

House MD Movie Season Four

House MD Movie Season Four-For Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), there's nothing like a good, tension-filled competition to pick his new team of doctors when his old trio of Chase (Jesse Spencer), Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) and Foreman (Omar Epps) leave his fold. Among the 40 newbies vying to earn the coveted spots in the fourth season of House, M.D. are Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn, the Harold & Kumar films), Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson, Transformers) and Dr Thirteen (Olivia Wilde, The O.C.). Taking a cue from Flavor Flav, House dubs the latter with that nickname simply because he can. Though frequently politically incorrect, House is almost always spot on when it comes to diagnosing rare diseases and ailments. His boss Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) puts up with his unorthodox quirks, which include antagonizing patients, berating his colleagues, and being an overall pain in the butt, because he's brilliant. The addition of the new doctors adds a bit of chaos early on. But once the contingent is whittled away to the select few, the storylines grow stronger and the chemistry between the old and new cast members gels. Originally shown during the 2007-2008 television season, House aired only 16--rather than its usual 24--episodes, due to the Writers Guild strike. Though a bit of momentum is lost in the last third of the season, the writers do an admirable job of piecing together loose ends without sacrificing plot or structure. In a nice homage to the Prescription Passion, the General Hospital-esque soap opera he loves, House at one point is afflicted with amnesia. The humorous aspect of the story is offset by urgency as he tries to remember what needs to be done to save a patient. On a separate episode, House kidnaps the star of the daytime drama (played by Sex and the City hunk Jason Lewis) because he's convinced the actor is dying. The season finale is heartbreaking, as one of House's 40 candidates is in a life-and-death situation that even the good doctor may not be able to cure.

House MD Movie Season Four Details:
-Format: AC-3, Box set, Color, Dolby, DVD, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC
-Language: English (Dolby Digital 5.1)
-Subtitles: English, Spanish
-Actors: Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, Jennifer Morrison
-Writers: David Shore
-Studio: Universal Studios
-DVD Release Date: August 19, 2008
-Run Time: 660 minutes

What Costumers said about House MD Movie Season Four?
EMIE
I was so excited when the forth season of House M.D. became available. My husband and I are huge House fans. I was somewhat shocked when I got season four to find that it only had sixteen episodes. I felt somewhat cheated. Then watching it I felt that the first five or six episodes, while okay, seemed more like some reality TV show where House is eliminating his choices for his team down to three. I became more interested in who was going to be fired next than House's brilliant diagnosis' and bizarre treatments. Once House picks his team, the shows begin to feel more like those of season's one thru three. But then the two part season finale hits kind of out of place with the rest of the season. I felt like I had skipped a couple of episodes. I don't want to spoil the season for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I will say that the finale was completely unexpected. True House fans might be somewhat dissapointed as I was, but true fans will still buy it and watch it.

JENNY
I say this every year: how can "House" top its previous stellar season?

And yet the divinely inspired creative combination of David Shore and Hugh Laurie have collaborated once again to deliver an outstanding outing in this fourth season. The bold decision to scuttle the previous team of Chase, Foreman, and Cameron at the end of season three was feared by some viewers, but the results were breathtaking in their creativity and panache. Shore's brave instincts paid off in glorious fashion.

The irrepressible and difficult House sets up an elimination competition among highly qualified candidates to determine who would be left standing and ready to form his new team of diagnosticians. This season House was light-hearted, except when he was endangering his own life; fantastically flirtatious except when he was reeling from an unexpected death of a patient; hilarious and deeply serious in breath-takingly swift succesion in every episode.

The two-part finale in which House questions his own mental abilities and the nature of his friendship with Wilson was one of the strongest episodes of television ever. The brilliant and magnetic Hugh Laurie shines throughout this quirky season with stunning supporting performances from Lisa Edelstein, Robert Sean Leonard, and the surprising Anne Dudek.

This is definitely worth every cent to add to your collection.

GLADYS
It's refreshing to watch a television program that isn't written for the "stoopitt" people out there in the world. So many shows lately have to dumby down with their writing so everyone understands what's happening. It's insulting and gets really boring for those of us out here who actually already get it all along...HOUSE is one of those amazingly written shows that appeals to the smarter folks out here. It has excellent humor and drama and mystery, and is worth spending an hour of your time watching because you're going to get everything you tune in for every episode.

There's a formula to each episodes, much like with LAW AND ORDER, but even though you understand how the process works, the endings are most often still quite the surprising twist that you'd never see coming.

The special features are great, but of-course, I always wish for more. Highly recommended!!

The Hangover Movie

If you like your humor broadside up, hold the subtlety, you'll want to nurse this The Hangover Movie with your best buds. The ensemble cast meshes perfectly-it's like a super-R-rated episode of Friends: silly, slapstick, and completely in the viewer's face. When four pals go to Vegas to celebrate the imminent nuptials of one of them, they partake in a rooftop toast to "a night we'll never forget." But they're in for a big surprise: their celebration drinks were laced with date-rape drugs, so when they awake in their hotel room 12 hours later, not only are they hung over, but they can't remember what they did all night long. Oh, and they're missing the groom-to-be.

The film is so cheerfully raunchy, so fiercely crude, that the humor becomes as intoxicating as the mind-altering substances. The standout in the ensemble is Zach Galifianakis, who is alternately creepy and hilarious. Ed Helm (The Office), in addition to his memory, loses a tooth in uncomfortably realistic fashion, and Bradley Cooper (He's Just Not That into You) has deadpan comic timing that whips along at the speed of light. "Ma'am, you have an incredible rack, he blares to a pedestrian from the squad car the guys have borrowed. I should have been a [bleeping] cop," he tells himself approvingly.

Director Todd Phillips brings back his deft handling of the actors and the dude humor that worked so well in Old School, as well as the unctuous Dan Finnerty, memorable as a lounge/wedding singer in both films. But it's the nonstop volley of jokes--most cheerily politically incorrect--that grabs the audience and thrashes it around the hotel room. Just watch out for the tiger in the bathroom.

The Hangover Movie details:
-Format: Color, Dolby, Dubbed, DVD, Special Edition, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC
-Actors: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Heather Graham
-Directors: Todd Phillips
-Studio: Warner Home Video
-DVD Release Date: December 15, 2009
-Run Time: 108 minutes

What costumers said about The hangover Movie
RAHUL
Most films today that claim to be comedies only make me smirk, chuckle lightly here
and there, or smile obligingly as I can indentify with a certain line or scenario.
But this movie here..."The Hangover" had me belly laughing and gufawing like I was
in my den at home with friends over and we were having a blast!
I completely forgot I was in a public movie theatre!
And I wasn't the only one either!---The whole movie theatre was in complete rapturous
laughter right along with me! Yes, this subject has been done to death, but not to this level of enjoyment. I haven't enjoyed a Vegas bachelor party film this much since "Very Bad Things" and I would have to rate this higher. My wife enjoyed this film as much as me and she commented how rare it is to see a film that is consistently funny from start to finish. My expectations were very high after all of the hype leading up to the release of this film and it didn't disappoint.

The director does a great job setting the stage for a night no one can remember. Each role was cast perfectly with Zach Galifianakis stealing the show. Make sure you don't leave early and miss the slide-show during the credits. Freaking hilarious!!!!

If you are easily offended by crude humor or you, then this isn't the movie for you.

Thank you, Todd Phillips for another over-the-top, laugh-out-loud masterpiece

LARRY
This is by far the funniest movie of 2009. Nothing else even comes close. It's one of the best comedy's I have seen in quite some time. Can't remember when I laughed out loud so often during a movie. Even my wife who is very finicky when it comes to what she thinks is funny loved the movie. The cast is great and deliver their lines flawlessly. I would recommend this movie to anyone unless they are easily offended. Can't wait to sit down and watch it again. Will be picking this up the second it is released on blu-ray!

Angels & Demons Movie

If the devil is in the details, there's a lot of wicked fun in Angels & Demons movie dvd, the sequel to The Da Vinci Code. Director Ron Howard delivers edge-of-your-pew thrills all over the Vatican, the City of Rome, and the deepest, dankest catacombs. Tom Hanks is dependably watchable in his reprised role as Professor Robert Langdon, summoned urgently to Rome on a matter of utmost urgency--which happens to coincide with the death of the Pope, meaning the Vatican is teeming with cardinals and Rome is teeming with the faithful. A religious offshoot group, calling themselves the Illuminati, which protested the Catholic Church's prosecution of scientists 400 years ago, has resurfaced and is making extreme, and gruesome, terrorist demands. The film zooms around the city, as Langdon follows clues embedded in art, architecture, and the very bone structure of the Vatican. The cast is terrific, including Ewan McGregor, who is memorable as a young protégé of the late pontiff, and who seems to challenge the common wisdom of the Conclave just by being 40 years younger than his fellows when he lectures for church reform. Stellan Skarsgard is excellent as a gruff commander of the Swiss Guard, who may or may not have thrown in with the Illuminati. But the real star of the film is Rome, and its High Church gorgeousness, with lush cinematography by Salvatore Totino, who renders the real sky above the Vatican, in a cataclysmic event, with the detail and majesty of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Angels & Demons Movies DETAILS:

-Actors: Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer, Stellan Skarsgård, Pierfrancesco Favino
-Directors: Ron Howard
-Writers: Dan Brown, Akiva Goldsman, David Koepp
-Language: English
-Subtitles: English, French
-Producers: Brian Grazer, Dan Brown, John Calley, Kathleen McGill
-Format: AC-3, Closed-captioned, Color, Dolby, Dubbed, DVD, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC
-Studio: Sony Pictures
-DVD Release Date: November 24, 2009
-Run Time: 138 minutes

What Costumers said about Angels & Demons Movies?
HENRY
I finished reading the book ( for the second time) 2 days ago.
I just finished seeing the movie.
I did NOT expect the movie to be entirely faithful to the
book because I knew there was too much info. and detail
in the book.
That being send, for me,this book to movie transfer was butchered!!
Why? Outside of the search for the four cardinals and the anti-
matter bomb there is little else that relates to the book.
The two MAJOR problems were the entire lack of motivation behind the
main characters actions and no character development. For example,in the book, the heroine,
Vittoria Vetra wants very much to be a part of the search for
the killer of her FATHER/scientific partner. In the movie she just
seems to tag along with Robert Langdon because she's just there.
In the movie the camerlengo kills and hires an assasin to kill because he feels his father the late pope is too liberal?
That's ridiculous. In the book his deep motivation is that he did
NOT know the pope was his father initially for many years.
He only knew that the man who became pope had looked after
him since he was a child. When the pope told him that he actually
was his biological son,the camerlengo was horrified to find
out that the pope had broken his vow of chastity. He had broken
his promise to God!!!This is what motivated the camerlengo in the book.
In the movie the assasin is just a cool unemotional hired killer. In the book he is a rabid nutcase who enjoys killing.
Because of the lack of strong motivation by the central characters
of the movie, it presents these people as having no depth and being more like cardboard cutouts.
Now for the ending. No I won't reveal it but,it reminded of
movies from the 50's where there is a miraculous event, and
everyone lives happily ever after.
I also feel that the makers of this movie were so wrapped up
in the set design and visual effects that they forgot about
character development. If you want to see a beautifully made
film about the slecting of a new pope, with great shots of Rome etc.,may I suggest The Shoes
of the Fisherman. In this movie they did not forgo character
development in favour of set design !!!
It struck me as strange that Robert Langdon virtually ignored
the stunning looking Ms.Vetra, yet in the the book he was strongly
attracted to her.
Personaly,I was really looking forward to seeing who would be selected to portray Max Kohler, the director of Cern.I think that part would have been any actors dream and if he was any good he
could have "chewed up the scenery."
Can anyone tell me the reason for changing the name of the cardinal who was chosen to be the great elector ( in charge of
conclave)from Mortati to Strauss or why the commander of the Swiss
guard was changed from Olivetti to Richter? Lastly why change the
design of the last branding iron? What's the point???
Lastly, I think ,to get the movie anywhere close to being like the book would have required 2 full discs because the book is incredibly detailed.

DORRIS
Dan Brown's controversial novel "The Da Vinci Code" was a best seller and the film adaptation of the film was box office gold as the film grossed over $758 million worldwide. Needless to say, controversy helped catapult this film and the novel and it was no surprise when it was announced that Ron Howard ("A Beautiful Mind", "Frost/Nixon", "Cinderella Man", "Apollo 13) would return as director and Tom Hanks ("Forrest Gump", "Castaway", "Big", "Sleepless in Seattle", "Saving Private Ryan") as the main character Robert Langdon in an adaptation of Dan Brown's 2000 mystery-thriller novel "Angels & Demons".

The film would feature a screenplay by David Koepp ("Hack", "War of the Worlds", "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", "Ghost Town") and Akiva Goldsman ("I Am Legend", "I Robot", "Cinderella Man"). Music for the film is by Hans Zimmer ("Frost/Nixon", "The Dark Knight", "Kung Fu Panda", "Pirates of the Carribean" films) and cinematography by Salvatore Totino ("Cinderella Man", "Changing Lanes", "Frost/Nixon"). The film The film opened in May 2009 and like "That Da Vinci Code", received a lot of controversy and did well in the box office as "Angels & Demons" made over $485 million.

Now "Angels & Demons" receives its entry to High Definition with a two-disc Blu-ray release which includes the theatrical and extended edition version of the film plus a third disc which contains a digital copy of the movie.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

"Angels & Demons" is featured in 1080p High Definition (with an aspect ratio of 2:40:1). The film looks absolutely stunning on Blu-ray. Salvatore Totino and Ron Howard make a great filmmaking couple as the Director has trusted Totino to capture the setting in Rome and its people with clarity, amazing detail of the various architecture and the surrounds outside the Vatican. And of course, the skin pores and detail on the characters face. It's all captured quite well and to add to that, a nice fine layer of grain. Overall, picture quality is fantastic.

And as for audio quality, the film is presented in English and French 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Unlike "The Da Vinci Code", "Angels & Demons" is a film that features a lot of action scenes (which either is going to make you feel its going a bit too farfetched or will make you feel that it's wonderful). From the gunshots from the assassin, the helicopter overhead, the cars racing and of course the anti-matter scenes, there is a good use of audio because of those action sequences. But what about the ambiance of a crowded area of the Vatican. Yes, you can hear the crowds with clarity and you can hear the people in the Vatican chit chatting, it's a wonderful use of the soundscape. But the main thing that you will notice right off the bat is Hans Zimmer's music. The music plays a big part of the "Angels & Demons" in creating that feel of action, sadness or the key dramatic moments. Overall, this is another lossless soundtrack that really utilizes audio completely well. It's not a full-on action-based film but it's a film that does sound remarkably well.

Subtitles are in English, English SDH and French.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

"Angel & Demons" has a second Blu-ray disc primarily for the special features. The special features are all in High Definition, in English (Stereo) and also has English subtitles. Included are:
# Cinechat - On Disc 1, the ability to chat with friends via BD Live while watching the film.
# movieIQ - Pull up facts about the talent, the film and more while watching the film via BD Live.
# Rome Was Not Built in a Day - (17:29) Interview with cast and crew of how to bring Dan Brown's book to life. Interview with the prop master and she explains her and her staff's duties during the film.
# Angels & Demons: The Full Story - (9:46) Director Ron Howard, Dan Brown and Tom Hanks talk about filming in Rome and the logistics of filming in the area. Also, the building and recreating the sets in Los Angeles and more.
# This is Ambigram - (4:44) Dan Brown talks about Ambigrams and how difficult it is to create. John Langon talks about his book "Wordplay" and the concept of ambigram and incorporating it for "Angels & Demons".
# The Path of Illumination - Follow Robert Langdon's journey through Rome and unlock hidden secrets of the Illuminati. Select from five marked locations on a map. And you can unearth in-depth historical facts, film clips and behind-the-scenes footage. Choose from the Piazza Del Popolo, St. Peter's Square, Santa Maria Della Vittoria, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. For example, if you click on Piazza Del Popolo, you get "Church" and "Obelisk". Choose church and you will see footage of the church and commentary by Ron Howard explaining the history of that location or structures. Also, read information and detail of other subjects as well.

JUDGMENT CALL:

"Angels & Demons" is one of those films that you either love or hate, as the same situation with "The Da Vinci Code".

I found the film to be quite entertaining and the cinematography and music to really enhance the film because the biggest problem that I found was the overuse of CG. I know the goal was to show how religion and science can work together but I tend to have a disdain towards films that try to be real but overuse CG in ways that are a bit farfetched.

Also, there was a problem with character development. In "The Da Vinci Code", there were characters that you actually cared about. With "Angels & Demons", I could hardly care for the Dr. Vetra because she's hardly around Robert for most of the film. That's what I enjoyed about the last film, the characters of Audrey Tautou's Agent Sophie Neveu and Dr. Robert Langdon developed well over the course of the film, while in "Angels & Demons"...somehow the symbiologist ends up becoming an action-hero, escaping major predicaments, one after the other and it was one thing to see it happen but seeing him do it over and over again, was a bit too farfetched for my taste. I wanted to see more of that intelligence and knowledge in symbiology and history to play a big part of the film.

But the saving grace for this film was my appreciation of "Angels & Demons" cinematography and music. Similar to how Jacques Tati made the city come alive in a film like "Playtime", Rome was captured as is. No matter how many people were loitering near the set, director Ron Howard wanted to capture the city and its beauty and they succeeded.

This is definitely a beautiful film and the Blu-ray release definitely brings out the film's detail and clarity. I was quite impressed with the picture quality, although the CG was just a bit too out-of-place it seemed. But the overall locations of where the film was shot and the creating of the sets to make the film come alive and make a set in Los Angeles look like Rome, a job well done by the production department.

And the lossless soundtrack is solid as well. Special features wise, "The Da Vinci Code" was packed with bonus features but "Angels & Demons" had about seven major features and no commentary track by Ron Howard either. But I did enjoy the use of "The Path of the Illumination" featuring the various areas around Rome.

Overall, "Angels & Demons" is an entertaining film, it's an ambitious and beautiful looking film that looks and sounds fantastic on Blu-ray. But the film does have its shortcomings and some scenes are a bit farfetched, but yet in the end, I found the overall content and presentation of "Angels & Demons" on Blu-ray to be quite fascinating and entertaining and feel it is definitely worth checking out.

RYAN
Some are unhappy because the movie does not closely follow the book. This happens to be true but how many book-based movies do? For the sake of movie-making, Dan Brown's book was not followed to the letter or even closely. However, it may be worth knowing that Dan Brown was the movie's executive producer and he absolutely approved all the major plot changes. If fact, he confesses to actually suggesting some of the major changes. Perhaps those who read the book should treat the movie as work 'related' to the book but not THE book illustrated. It's still Dan Brown's work but this is cinematography that was inspired by his book, to be appreciated and enjoyed as a movie.

I heard statements that the book was somehow anti-Christian or anti-Catholic. I disagree. I will not reveal the plot by providing substantial details but the movie concludes in a way that suggests respect for religious faith and the Catholic church, in fact, comes out looking pretty good.

Angels & Demons besides being a feast to the eyes, it succeeds in arousing the viewer's curiosity in more than one area: contemporary physics, Rome's landmarks, the Vatican. And those who watched the movie and may find themselves in Rome and at the Vatican are more likely than not to actually look for some of the landmarks featured in Angels & Demons. In fairness, Angels & Demons does not come close to The DaVinci Code's Earth-shattering scope, depth of research and sophistication but it's still unmistakenly Dan Brown and those who enjoyed the Code will probably love A&D. Those who hated the Code are likely to hate A&D more. To me, Dan Brown's works are not art and they aren't science but they are great, well researched entertainment that often challenge the reader's/viewer's preconceived opinions and stimulate further research and investigation - and this is a good thing.

When it comes to acting Tom Hanks does not disappoint as Robert Langdon but Ewan McGregor lacks the gravitas we would expect from an acting Pope. All others are up to the job but I didn't see any Oscar-quality performances and didn't expect to.

The special effects - when it comes to the recreation of St. Peter Square and parts of the Vatican - are nothing short of amazing. Like I said, the movie is a feast to the eyes and, for all intents and purposes, what you see is always Rome and the Vatican, even when the cameras were filming some California parking lot.

PACKAGING AND PRESENTATION

Sony is totally throwing the kitchen sink at us with this Blu edition. As the Blu standard bearer and main promoter, they want to show us what Blu can do to make our lives a little more interesting. Everything that you can think of when you think Blu-ray and more 'is in there'.

Everything is good quality, starting with the Blu case which is not the cheap, perforated, almost falling apart kind that some of the lesser editions are using these days.

The decision to include both the theatrical version AND the extended cut on the same disc is responsible for this being a 3-disc set with a second disk carrying the special features and a third dedicated to the digital copies.

Technically speaking, the picture is, of course, a sharp 1080p and the two available sound tracks are both DTS-HD Master Audio in English and French. Surprisingly, the bonus features are shot in high-def as well with 2.0 stereo for the soundtrack.

SPECIAL FEATURES - BLU-RAY

Besides BD-Live, a number of interesting Blu-specific features are available with this release.

The Path of Illumination emulates a trail through Rome, following Robert Langdon's through 5 Roman landmarks. It has high visuals, interviews, footage from each location, even a dictionary where dozens of terms are explained. Anyone passing through Rome could walk the path with the Path of Illumination feature serving as a travel guide.

CineChat is another Sony attempt to promote more interactivity. It allows those watching the movie to organize themselves into a viewing party and actually have their chats displayed on-screen as the movie is playing.

The movieIQ option is a BD-Live powered option. It logs into and checks some online database and provides up-to-date information about the movie and specific chapters while watching the movie. Pretty cool actually and not over-distracting, especially considering that this is not information 'burned' into the disc and it is updated, at least in theory if not in practice.

The digital copy, if this can go under Blu-ray specific features, is available for the PC, PSP (via PS3), Mac and iPod. Expires on 2/12/2010.

THE OTHER EXTRAS

Not as interactive as the BD-specific ones, they are also shot in hi-def for the Blu version, there are lots of shorts about the 'making of', actors, special effects, as expected. The featurette titled 'Writing Angels & Demons' should be of special interest because it's there where Dan Brown confesses to his specific agreement and cooperation on altering the story. Another interesting extra is on the CERN. Finally, we actually get to see and hear the real-life John Langdon, the person who served as the inspiration for the Robert Langdon character - he specializes in 'ambiagrams', of course.

MY RATING

I found this movie to be entertaining and to carry sufficient 'substance' to merit watching maybe more than once. The quality of the Blu rendition is nothing short of exquisite and the extras, both Blu-specific and the regular ones are worth watching and interacting with.

Barbie three musketeers dvd

Barbie three musketeers dvd. It’s “All for One and One for All” as Barbie and her friends co-star in Barbie™ and The Three Musketeers! Join Barbie as Corinne, a young country girl headed to Paris to pursue her big dream – to become a female musketeer! Never could she imagine she would meet three other girls who secretly share the same dream! Using their special talents, the girls work together as a team to foil a plot and save the prince. Come along on an action-filled adventure that dares you to dream as never before.

A girl can be anything she wants to be if she works hard, but in the days of the musketeers, certain professions were simply off-limits. Corinne (Barbie) is the daughter of a Musketeer and grew up wanting to become a musketeer and training hard to become an excellent swordsperson. When she sets off for Paris to join the musketeers, even her letter of introduction earns nothing but laughs from Captain Treville and the all-male musketeers. Forced to take a job as a castle housekeeper, Corinne soon discovers that her three fellow housekeepers have also dreamed and trained to become musketeers. Even more amazing is that the senior housekeeper had similar dreams as a child. This elder housekeeper provides further training for the three girls, encouraging them to strive to achieve what was an absolute impossibility for her generation. Just as the prince is about to become king, strange accidents begin to occur around the castle--accidents that the men musketeers seem unable to prevent. Could these unfortunate events provide an opportunity for Corinne and her friends to showcase their extraordinary swordsmanship? While the concept of Barbie as a sword-wielding musketeer may initially seem rather odd, the film is just as believable as other Barbie productions and it is refreshing to see Barbie in a somewhat less overtly-feminine role. Barbie's final quotation sums it all up nicely: "True courage is pursuing your dream, even when everyone else says it's impossible.

DETAILS
Actors: Barbie
Format: AC-3, Animated, Color, Dolby, Dubbed, DVD, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC
Language: English
Subtitles: English
Region: Region 1 (U.S. and Canada only. After 17 years of practice her dreams of going to Paris and becoming a musketeer like her dad isn't all it crack up to be as girls aren't musketeers. Getting a job as a servant girl she and the other girls that she had anything but a good first impression upon come across a plot against the prince. She and her soon to be friends who also dreams of being a musketeers themselves becomes the secret mask heroines of the kingdom. Treating Barbie like a real actress in a movie and not some cartoon character the DVD includes behind the scenes bloopers and a great New York Barbie fashion show where women of different ages get to be Barbie from different era's of her existence.

DUSTIN
Okay.. First of all I want to say a lot of kids movies are ANNOYING... But My HUSBAND, ME & Both of my children (1 son 3 1/2, 1 daughter 3 1/2 (twins)) LOVE Every single Barbie movie! We have every one!! We have watched them so much we have had to buy 2nd copies to keep watching!! We love them all, some more than others, but I do recoment all of them...

We just bought "barbie and the three musketeers" to add to our collection. We love it... Its fun, up beat and very exciting. One thing I love about this movie is that it does have great music and makes it fun for the kids so they can dance and sing along!! One reviewer said the music was distracting but I guess if you just want your kids to sit in one spot and watch a movie instead of live in the movie and soak it in and be excited about it... My kids can sit through any movie they love and watch the whole thing.. but it was so exciting they were up dancing, my daughter was yelling at the movie, they had a great time watching it!!! I very much recoment this movie! SOO CUTE!!!

I do have to say one thing though... i was a little dissapointed... My daughters favorite thing in the entire world is HORSES.. and when I saw the preview I thought their would be more horses in it.. .but there were not very many horses in it at all!.. I was really dissapointed with that...

Our favorite Barbie movie is The Diamond Castle! Can't tell anyone how great that movie is! it is all of our favorites! YES EVEN MY HUSBAND LLLOOOVVVEESS it!

PAM
In this re-write of Dumas' "The Three Musketeers", Barbie is a country lass named Corinne. Like her deceased father, who just happens to have been D'Artagnan, it is her dream to serve and protect the royal family. But unlike her father she faces even more difficulties in getting to prove herself worthy of the Musketeer title because she is a girl.

This then is the pivotal point of the plot, that girls can do whatever they want if they are willing to train for it and not let others squash there dreams. And, in fact, this theme is extended to include everyone, even the Prince of France, who feels like he will have to give up his scientific interests once he becomes king.

Corrine is joined in this adventure by 3 other girls, who also happen to want to be Musketeers. They are all athletic and bright, differing though in their interests. One quotes poetry, one plays the violin, and so forth. But because they are girls they end up working as housekeepers in the palace until they discover that there is a plot against the prince's life. Then they are called upon to use all of their skills and inner strength to try to foil the plot.

There is the usual music and dance numbers, as well as the usual avoidance of violence in this film. The talking animals include a mean-spirited dog, Corrine's cat, and a horse named Alexander.

I really liked the strong themes in the movie. Like every Barbie film there's a good underlying message and exemplary behavior.

I thought the music was excellent. It's a little more trendy than in previous Barbie movies, and I'm even thinking about seeing if there's a DVD we can purchase.

I thought the animation was not as good as in her other movies. However we saw this at the theater so that may have made small imperfections appear worse than they would at home.

Overall, a very good movie. I give it 4 Stars because some of the plotting was inferior to previous movies, and if you could only purchase one Barbie video for your child, I would suggest that Barbie Barbie in The Nutcracker and Barbie Barbie As The Princess and the Pauper were better choices.

Heroes season 3 original dvd

Experience all the explosive action and shocking twists as Heroes: Season 3 comes to DVD! And there was little hope that it was going to get better. But then it did. Much of the improvement might have been the result of one of the greatest tragedies of the 2008-2009 season, ABC's cancellation of one of the best shows in the history of television, PUSHING DAISIES. But one show's tragedy is another's great fortune. Bryan Fuller, who had been a consulting producer for HEROES in its first and promising season (he was given writing credits on what is to this day by far the greatest HEROES episode ever, the brilliant Season One episode "Company Man," was suddenly freed from PUSHING DAISIES, and was made the new show runner for HEROES after several producers and writers were released from the show. The improvement in the show was not instantaneous, but it was close. By the end of the season the show was as interesting as it had been in flashes in Season One.

Whether it was Fuller or not, the show had by the end of Season Three begun to have a direction once again. Both Season Two and the first half of Three had seen the show go down a series of confusing and generally unpleasant directions. One story arc had minimal connection with what had gone before and all indications were that they were just making things up as they went along. And what they were making up simply wasn't very good. Has the show finally turned around? If the difference has indeed been Bryan Fuller's involvement, it is entirely possible. I just know that by the end of Season Three I was actually looking forward to each episode again. For ages it was simply something I watched because I had been watching CHUCK.

There has been a lot of debate about what went wrong with HEROES, about why it failed to fulfill the potential it displayed in its first season. My own opinion is that the show never took its own name seriously. The truth is that despite its title there were very, very few heroic characters. Having superpowers does not make someone a hero. Being heroic does. But most of the characters were not heroic and most of them struggled more with their own pettiness. And the writers kept taking characters down the most outrageous paths. Like the nerfing of Peter Petrelli, leaving him a defanged puppy. Or making a mess of every character that Ali Larter has played.

But I have much higher hopes for Season Four. Almost all the high points of Seasons Two and Three took place in the second half of this season, after the time when Bryan Fuller took over as show runner. The show now seems to be moving in more interesting directions, and there were dramatically fewer "oh, no!" moments. And in the struggle in the season finale, there was some genuine excitement and true heartfelt tragedy. My confidence in the show hasn't recovered entirely, but for the first time since Season One, I find that I care once again about what happens next.

STANLEY
Many people have decided that Heroes is nothing ike the first season, and therefore, is a bad show. Some of the reviews constantly compare the show to the first season stating that the show will never, or has not, reached the potential of that season. While I agree, I would also like to give an unbiased review of Season 3.

Season three had two volumes: Volume 3: Villains and Volume 4: Fugitives. First, let's take a look at Vol. 3. The volume took off from the ill-fated Season 2 (Volume 2) ending and tried to make due with. It started off promising with Angela Petrelli manipulating Sylar into thinking he was her son, watching Arthur Petrelli rise to power, and even additions like Daphne made for some interesting story arcs. I liked the idea of the formula, just not how it was executed. And, I even liked the story arc for Hiro. However, my main gripe with this volume was the ret conning of well developed characters as well as the break in mythology. When they ret conned Elle's sociopathic character to be a good girl turned bad by the Company, I was devastated because Elle was a well developed character by the end of Season 2. I also did not like how they tried to weasel her into Sylar's storyline by messing up the main impetus for Sylar's evilness that was developed in Season 1. Then, the whole idea of the catalyst being Claire but no one taking note of it until Volume 3 was a little farfetched. That being said, I did not feel like the show was just so horrible it couldn't be redeemed.

Thus, Volume 4 starts and gives us loyal fans, who understand that sci-fi shows take a few detours in trying to flesh out its mythology, we given some nice story arcs to love. I liked how the show began to go towards the Five Years Gone S1 episode future that many fans loved. I also was intrigued with the character of Danko and how he fit right in with the show. I like the flashback episode "1961" because it gave us some insight into the previous generation of Heroes, and I enjoyed Sylar's whole arc--from the journey to find his father to finally getting the shape-shifting ability--I thought they set his character up well. My gripes with this volume is that they took away Peter's ability and never gave it back. I am not sure why they did that, but it was a major thorn in my side. Also, they kind of acted like Vol 3 didn't happen. No mention of Arthur or Pinehearst, no mention of the formula or the catalyst, and they kind of didn't know what to do with Mohinder once he got an ability.

Overall, the show was trying to find its footing again after the second season was cut short and they had to scrap together a season. I believe that the show is just as good as it was in S1. The only thing is that the characters need motivation (similar to the NYC explosion in S1). However, I would not say that the show isn't as good as S1 because each season since has had it's own pitfalls, but it's triumphs as well.

Monsters VS Aliens dvd

Monsters VS Aliens dvd. When Susan Murphy is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall and is instantly labeled a “Monster” named Ginormica. Their confinement time is cut short however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to save the world from imminent destruction.

DETAILS
-Actors: Seth Rogen, Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Paul Rudd
-Format: AC-3, Animated, Color, Dolby, Dubbed, DVD, Subtitled, -Widescreen, NTSC
-Language: English
-Subtitles: English, French, Spanish
-Region: Region 1 (U.S. and Canada only. Aliens, and to my surprise I was really entertained by the movie and its characters. I will not spoil the story for all of you that have not seen it yet. But I will tell you a little about the story and the characters.

The main character of the movie is a girl named Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon). She is about to get married, when she is suddenly hit by a meteor. She begins to grow in size, finally reaching a height of 49 feet 11 inches. She is captured by the U.S. Army and transported to a secret goverment base. She is given the name Ginormica.

The dumbest monster of the group is B.O.B. (Seth Rogen) He is very funny and very dumb, which makes him a very amusing character. He is often saying stupid things at the wrong time (which makes him very funny).

The smartest one of the group is none other than Dr. Cockroach, Ph. D. (Hugh Laurie). He is very useful in their battles against the evil alien villian Gallaxar (Rainn Wilson). He has a nasty appetite for garbage. He was a man who experimented on himself with a machine, giving him the appearence and ability of a cockroach.

One of the coolest monsters among the group is The Missing Link (Will Arnett). He acts like a jock out of his prime, even though he is over 20,000 years old. He is actually very entertaining and funny. He is the best friend of the next character.

Insectosaurus is a giant 300 foot tall fuzzy larva. He is basically a parody of Mothra mostly, with a hint of Godzilla as well. Insectosaurus' best friend is the Missing Link, but the giant is willing to put its life on the line to protect his friends, especially Susan. Another great character of the team.

The plot of Monsters Vs. Aliens is predictable, but the movie makes up for it my being very funny and action packed! It is a great family movie and will entertain all ages. So, if you are looking for an entertaing treat of a movie, then go see Monsters Vs. Aliens.

P.S., If you are a Godzilla fan, go see this movie. Insectosaurus does something that might intrest all of you Mothra fans out there. Anyways, Monsters Vs. Aliens is a good movie. Go see it and enjoy the show.

MIKE
News Reporter: "Once again, a UFO has landed in America, the only country UFOs ever seem to land in."

Short Attention Span Summary (SASS):

1. Star studded cast lights up the screen (or at least their voices do) in a funny and action-packed computer-animated film from Dreamworks.
2. Reese Witherspoon is Susan Murphy, a sweet home Modesto girl who doesn't realize her true worth until she gets hit by a meteor. . .
3 on her wedding day
4. The casting people outdo themselves with Seth Rogen as a brainless blob, Hugh Laurie as a mad doctor with the ethics of a cockroach, Rainn Wilson as an evil alien and Stephen Colbert as the President of the United States.
5. Think of a bigger, better Mars Attacks! and Spaceballs.

When an evil alien targets Earth as a source of "quantonium", the Government has only one option, and that is to call out the monsters under the command and supervision of General W. R. Monger (Keifer Sutherland).

General W.R. Monger: "This place is an X-file wrapped in a cover-up and deep-fried in a government conspiracy."

Other star vocal talent includes Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Jeffrey Tambor, Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski, among others.

The plot itself may not be a classic, but the animation and casting make it a movie you'll want to have in your collection.

Recommended, naturally, for fans of superior computer animation, monsters and aliens.

The President of the United States: "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants."

JANE
Don't listen to anyone who gave this movie a under 4 star review. They clearly have not seen enough movies to know what a bad movie is. Anyway, this movie was really funny. A person in a great deep depression would end up laughing and being happy by the end. I loved bob, The American president and everyone else. The voice overs were good and everything was as real as it could get. This movie is for people of all ages.

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of OZ, When it was released during Hollywood's golden year of 1939, The Wizard of Oz didn't start out as the perennial classic it has since become. The film did respectable business, but it wasn't until its debut on television that this family favorite saw its popularity soar. And while Oz's TV broadcasts are now controlled by media mogul Ted Turner (who owns the rights), the advent of home video has made this lively musical a mainstay in the staple diet of great American films. Young Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland), her dog, Toto, and her three companions on the yellow brick road to Oz--the Tin Man (Jack Haley), the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), and the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger)--have become pop-culture icons and central figures in the legacy of fantasy for children. As the Wicked Witch who covets Dorothy's enchanted ruby slippers, Margaret Hamilton has had the singular honor of scaring the wits out of children for more than six decades. The film's still as fresh, frightening, and funny as it was when first released. It may take some liberal detours from the original story by L. Frank Baum, but it's loyal to the Baum legacy while charting its own course as a spectacular film. Shot in glorious Technicolor, befitting its dynamic production design (Munchkinland alone is a psychedelic explosion of color and decor), The Wizard of Oz may not appeal to every taste as the years go by, but it's required viewing for kids of all ages.

The 2009 Wizard of Oz Two-Disc Special Edition DVD has the sharp 2005 restoration using Warner's Ultra Resolution process and an accompanying featurette on how it's done. The technicians also discuss how the sound was remixed, though that would have been more effective had it included surround-sound demonstrations (the featurette is in 2.0). Other features include a commentary track by critic John Fricke supplemented by vintage cast interviews (he offers a lot of trivia, and debunks the myth that Shirley Temple was ever close to getting the Dorothy role); profiles of nine cast members and clips of other movies they appeared in (including Toto); a lightly animated 10-minute storybook narrated by Angela Lansbury; and the original mono track and a music-and-effects track. New for 2009 is a sing-along track that you can turn on as you watch the movie or you can select from 10 numbers to sing along with karaoke-style subtitles. The second disc has the Lansbury-hosted documentary The Making of a Movie Classic; the outtakes and deleted scenes, including Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow" reprise and the home-movie recording of "The Jitterbug"; the sketches and stills and composer Harold Arlen's home movies; the audio underscores and radio programs; the 1979 interviews with Margaret Hamilton, Ray Bolger, and Jack Haley; 2001 and 2005 behind-the-scenes featurettes; a 1950 Lux Radio Theater broadcast; and other items too numerous to mention.

Product Details:
Actors: Judy Garland, Billie Burke, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Margaret Hamilton
Special Edition, NTSC
Language: English
Region: Region 1 (U.S. and Canada only. If you saw this movie as a child then you probably consider it one of, if not the, favorite movie of yours. What I will do is a quick review of the Blu Ray version.

Short version: The quality is lacking as I was very disappointed that the movie was NOT redigitalized. I have watched the HD version on TV and I really see no qualitative difference. It certainly it is not worthy of the Blu Ray label.

That being said: This limited edition version is kind of cool...it contains two other disks, a digital version and a couple booklets as well as a couple other little surprises...including a watch. I will admit, it is a nice little collectors version.

The bottom line: For me, it's all about the quality of the picture so I can not recommend this edition on that basis. However, this may be as good as it can get, at least for a few years, and if you like little funky editions or are a real Wizard of Oz buff, you may really appreciate what it has to offer. It's a five star movie, a five star edition with only a three star picture quality.

BY RICHARD
Many people will consider giving this movie such a low rating a sacrilege. This is understandable because so many people have grown up watching this film.I too loved this movie at a certain period of my life. The period between my birth and when I turned ten. That was when I read the book. The book is perhaps one of the greatest literary works ever created. It has now been awhile since I first read it,but I still remember the excitement I felt with each new chapter.I finished it in a few short hours.Since then,I have reread it several times, and each time it has been just as enjoyable. It is a true classic that people of all ages can enjoy. My brother reads as little as possible, but even he loved it.The movie,on the other hand, has gotten worse with each subsequent viewing. It deters from the book in almost every way possible. It makes a mockery of each character through a combination of poor writing and horrible acting.Judy Garland is an absolutely abominable choice to play the plucky heroine,Dorothy Gale.In the book,Dorothy was a little girl of about eight or nine and she was brave and clever. In the film, she is whiny, cowardly, fretful, and slightly stupid. She is also portrayed as being around fifteen.Making her this old distorts the book and her older age doesn't fit with her childish behaviour and appearance.Besides wrecking the book, this movie when looked at clearly is a terrible film.Don't misunderstand me,I am a fan of musicals. However, this film made for an atrocious musical.Practically every single song was ANNOYING!!Also, the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" number did not suit the plotline as it was in the book. This brings me to the BIGGEST,MOST AWFUL,distortion of them ALL!In the book,Dorothy really went to OZ!!!!!Not only that, she returned to Oz several times in other OZ books.Eventually, she even moved there to live!!!In making the whole experience a dream, the entire story of OZ was destroyed.Having said that, this movie receives a 1 in my opinion.Even so,I realize that many people will persist in liking this movie despite my words of wisdom. If they do sill consider this movie a favorite after reading the book, then the 3-Disc DVD is the edition to purchase. The features look good and the picture is restored. As for me,I will spend my money on better things.

BY DARWIN
Irony high and irony low.Low irony: the soporific singing, combined with a pure-schmaltz storyline, guaranteed box office failure for every theater release and re-release of this film. "Just as good the fifteenth time as it is the first." Of course, the film has had outstanding success on television. Television success: Bravo!High irony: the didactic and gold-plated Message that "there's no place like home" takes more time to deliver on the bonus material of the DVD edition than the movie itself. Some bonus! Of course this message, like all "Messages to Wayward Children," is beyond any child's care or understanding. This is not a film for children but, rather, a film for the "child inside every one of us." One might as well subject that inner-child to serial viewings ("Just as good the fifteenth time as it is the first") in a vain attempt to hammer home the Message. No actual child would willingly submit to such torture.

Xmen-Origins Wolverine

Xmen-Origins Wolverine,,THIS PREQUEL EXPLORES WOLVERINE'S PAST & EVENTS THAT INFLUENCED HIM BEFORE THE WEAPON X PROGRAM BONDED HIS SKELETON WITH ADAMANTIUM. AFTER THE DEATH OF HIS GIRLFRIEND, WOLVERINE SEEKD VENGEANCE.

Wolverine, fan favorite of the X-Men universe in both comic books and film, gets his own movie vehicle with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a tale that reaches way, way back into the hairy mutant's story. Somewhere in the wilds of northwest Canada in the early 1800s, two boys grow up amid violence: half-brothers with very special powers. Eventually they will become the near-indestructible warriors (and victims of a super-secret government program) known as Wolverine and Sabretooth, played respectively by Hugh Jackman (returning to his role) and Liev Schreiber (new to the scene). It helps enormously to have Schreiber, an actor of brawny skills, as the showiest villain; the guy can put genuine menace into a vocal inflection or a shift of the eyes. Danny Huston is the sinister government operative whose experiments keep pullin' Wolverine back in, Lynn Collins is the woman who shares a peaceful Canadian co-existence with our hero when he tries to drop out of the program, and Ryan Reynolds adds needed humor, at least for a while. The fast-paced early reels give an entertaining kick-off to the Wolverine saga, only to slow down when a proper plot must be put together--but isn't that perpetually the problem with origin stories? And despite a cool setting, the grand finale is a little hemmed in by certain plot essentials that must be in place for the sequels, which may be why characters do nonsensical things. So, this one is fun while it lasts, if you're not looking for a masterpiece, or an explanation for Wolverine's facial grooming.

Actors: Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber
Directors: Gavin Hood
Language: English
Subtitles: English, French, Spanish
Region: Region 1 (U.S. and Canada only.)
Studio: 20th Century Fox
DVD Release Date: September 15,2009
Run Time: 107 minutes

Costumers Review:

BY MONTOPOLISH
I want to get this out first, I love the comics. I think none of these movies are anywhere close to represent the X-men as they are in the comics. That said, I think these movies exist in a different world that has nothing to do with the 616, except for the characters names and most their powers. I have no problems with these movies; X-men 1 and 2 were very entertaining action movies. But even those movies should have been called, "Wolverine 'N Pals", because they didn't focus on the X-men, but on Wolverine's interaction with the other characters. My expectations of this movie were not based on the comics themselves, but on the previous movie storylines. I knew in my heart that Hollywood would somehow find a way to rape the image of one of my favorite characters in the Marvel Universe, Deadpool. So when "Weapool 11" popped up at the end I wasn't even surprised they would do something that silly. I read an interview a long time ago that about X-men 1 that the producers had to fight to have Cyclops wear the visor because the director didn't like it. So, I am not surprised nor bothered by the fact that these Hollywood interpretations don't have a clue about how these characters should be handled. I did like the previous movies (except 3), and understand that this is merely a diferent interpretation of these characters.

Wolverine Origins or, "Wolverine 'N Pals 4; how this mess began", is a very entertaining movie. But it fails to deliver a comprehensible story line. A lot of the story doesn't make any sense. The movie,( as you might be have been clued to know), is about Wolverines origins, its shows you where he came from and how his powers manifested, leading to spending a long part of his life with his half brother Sabertooth, whom we were introduced to in the 1st X-men. After many adventures and wars, the pair ends up joining a military group of people with superpowers led by Stryker. On one of the missions, Wolverine angered by Sabertooth's actions leaves the group to pursue a nicer lifestyle. This is when he falls in love with Silverfox and the pair lives happily for a while. Many years later Sabertooth comes back in a killing rampage taking out some old members of Stryker's group, and Wolverine's love is killed during this. To get his revenge, Wolverine agrees to have done on him an experimental procedure that with give him metal plated bones.

Not bad right? Love, family, betrayal and revenge. All the stuff to make a great story. This is where it doesn't add up. For those of you that don't want "Spoilers" please don't read, as I might give away some plot details.
-After wolverine finds Silverfox dead, Wolverine a veteran of many wars, doesn't check to make sure she is in fact dead? Why did he leave her body there in the field? Couldnt't his enhanced smell detect the fake blood? Was it her manipulation power that convinced him to just move on instead of taking her to a medic.
-If she can manipulate people by touch, how the hell didn't she manipulate Stryker in letting her sister or any of the other kids go? She spends 7 years of her life with Wolvie and doesn't manipulate him, and indestructible man, to kill Stryker? Was she having to much fun maybe?
-After Wolverine has adamantium put on his bones and escapes to visit the "Kents", why on earth would Stryker send Maverick with a rifle to shoot a man that can't die with metal bones? Was he going to shoot through an eyeball from a helicopter? He missed pretty badly by the way, twice. Superman gonna be angry when he goes home to visit.
-Its revealed that Silverfox wasn't killed by Sabertooth yet after Sabertooth saves Wolverine from falling off the cooling tower, Wolverine tells him "this doesn't change anything". Why? She's not dead. She fooled you. He saves you from falling and having your butt kicked but Weapon 11, why the hell are you still mad at him?
-Stryker failed to wipe Wolverine's memories so the solution is to shoot a guy with metal on his skull on his head? How the hell does that work? How did he know it would work?
-Why did the most powerful telepath (Professor X) not control someone inside the 3 mile island release the kids? Why wait 7 years and then help. Why didn't he do that stop time thing from the previous movies so he can save the kids? Where was Magneto? Doesnt he care about abused mutant kids? (One of the restrained kids looked like Quicksilver, who is Magnetos son in the comics)
-How come those kids couldn't get away on their own? What was that chain link fence cage they were in made of? Adamantium?
-Why was Gambit hanging out in a casino, when he knew he was being looked for by Stryker? How was it that Stryker can't find him in a long time and yet Wolverine finds him in a day? Maybe Stryker didn't want him anymore. Maybe they couldn't persuade the Blob to talk?
-Why add the scene in the end where Stryker is going to be arrested for his crimes, when we well know that he was a high ranking military official in X-men 2?

Well these are most of the plot points from the movie that just don't make any sense. It's ok for an action movie to be extremely silly and self referential in that way. For example in Transformers when they have the teen kid take the cube and the alien so they can hide in the populated city, one of the characters mentions how dumb that idea is. They make no excuses in this movie, and just because it's "supposed" to be a dumb action movie, there is no justification for the producers of this movie to assume their viewers are idiots, and won't care about a story plot that doesn't make any sense. Which, apparently they are correct because this movie made a boatload of cash. I will not act like there is nothing wrong with this movie just because it's flashy and has lost of explosions.

In my arrogant opinion, it's a onetime watcher. This is not a boring movie by far, yes, it's a lot of fun and tons of action and the movie's cast was really great. But the story is convoluted and nonsensical, it seems to take the audience for granted. So, if you want to enjoy this mess, just ignore the entire story and watch the shiny stuff happening on screen.

BY ERICA
You know, Wolverine really impressed me within the first hour of the film. They didn't try to cram too much in and overaction the film. The weren't making the same mistake they did X3. We got to see a lot of characterization, which is my favorite quality of superhero films. I want to see the story and the journey, don't just blow up stuff and throw in riduculous fight scenes to sell movie tickets. I want reality within the surreal. The first half of the film really did justice to some of my favorite comic characters. And the new non-comic book characters (John Wraith and the electric mutant) complimented the film just fine. Everyones performance in the beginning of the film was fine by my standards.

Then something went wrong in the second half. They tried to put in a bike chase scene, but it ended up being way over the top. I think everyones a little tired of seeing action heroes walk out of a flaming ball of fire. The action in general isn't smooth and they didn't pay enough for better CG. If you rewind before the chase scene we see a bathroom scene where Logan comes to terms with his blades. This scene takes the cake as the most useless scene in the movie, because the whole time the audience is distracted by just how badly they animated his blades. They look opaque for christ's sake.

So going on we finally end up at Strker's island. This whole last part of the movie does not sit well with me. Wolverine learns the truth and then wants to cry and walk away instead of killing stryker. I'm not saying he should kill stryker, but WHAT WOULD WOLVERINE REALLY DO? So he walks off and cries and then hears a scream and comes back. How many times have I seen someone get upset and run away and then come back right before someone dies to save the day? Anyway, by the end we've totally ruined deadpool, and yes I know I can't beg Fox to keep everything the way it is in the comics, but guess what? Even the producer of this film and all the X-men films says I regret what happened to Deadpool, I want an entire reboot, I hope we can do that. You made a beloved killer an indestructable villain, who definately can't make another appearance the way he is right now. They would have to erase everything they've done to make a Deadpool movie now. Ok, enough about the film.

SPECIAL FEATURES: I think we were sold a little short. We get a few short clips and about 6 commentaries/picture in picture tracks that play throughout the whole feature film. Please, I think everyone would rather have more behind-the-scenes segments and less commentaries. I like both but I don't want to watch the film 6 times to get my moneys worth. More lengthy behind the scenes, and less "Fun Facts while your movie plays". Trust me close to no one watched the X-facts or the Previsualizing tracks that play througout the movie. It's just cheap special features. The first three films have great special features on their blu-rays. I don't see how this can be so difficult.

So all in all, Wolverine isn't bad, but it definately has it's flaws. It was more of a dissapointment, but it was definately better than X3. Hopefully, since one of Brian Singers friends is writing the Wolverine sequel, Singer might return to do justice to the franchise. But this for now is a rent-before-buy as opposed to a must-buy.

BY ANDREW
Comics would have to be some of the easiest stories to translate into film. Many characters like Wolverine have a rich, incredibly complex history that can be drawn upon while the comics themselves present a visual storyboard. But, Wolverine the movie is utterly hamstrung by a poor story line, shallow development of the characters, and very poor CGI for such a major movie. I'm not a major Wolverine fanboy by any means, but from what I remember he is suppose to be a [...] killing machine. I think in the previous X-Men movies, and particularly in this movie, the edge is taken off of Wolverine to his detriment.
